Senior Women’s Basketball
The LWBL Women’s Basketball League is open to all ages and abilities. The league provides Women with the opportunity to keep fit and socialise in a competitive basketball league and cup tournament. The season runs from September through to May/June depending on fixtures.
The LWBL is a women’s only league and offers a supportive environment for sports development.
The LWBL has 1 division of varying abilities. The standards vary from team to team with teams at the top of the league catering for more experienced players. Most teams have a mix of new junior players entering the adult league and experienced senior players. As a result the league offers an excellent environment to develop skills and abilities.
A majority of the clubs in the league hold open training sessions in the weeks leading up to the start of the season and open training sessions between game nights.
How do I join a LWBL Basketball club?
In order to play in the LWBL, each player must be registered with Basketball England. This includes basic insurance to protect players and officials. Each club will have its own subscription fee used to cover the cost of court hire and officials. Please contact your nearest or prefered club for details.
If you do not wish to join, most open sessions are on a pay as you go basis so keep an eye out for open sessions or contact your nearest club for details.
Can I enter a team in the LWBL?
Yes. We welcome new teams provided they are within our catchment area. Please visit the Guide for new clubs and registration page for details.
Cannot make it to an LWBL club? Women are welcome in the LBBL
The LWBL only has one division and we recognise that game nights may not be convenient in the women’s only league. The LBBL welcomes women who wish to play in the LBBL. Many teams have female players making the competition more diverse (and showing up the men when it comes to shooting 3-pointers!). Please contact your nearest club for information.
