As well as competitive games, there are opportunities to play casually within the Leicestershire area. Most clubs offer taster sessions or open training inbetween game nights. Although a majority of players in the LBBL senior league are men, women are welcome to join any of the teams within the league. The LWBL is a dedicated ladies only league but with just one division which wont suit everyone looking to play. The LBBL offers 4 divisions of varying abilities with division 1 offering close to national league standards moving down to division 4 where teams consist of a mix of new junior and senior players.
Infant and Junior basketball is available at some clubs throughout the region. Clubs like the Ashby Aztecs and the Melton Kings offer weekly training and games for young players alongside senior sessions. This provides a great opportunity for those looking to learn the game and progress into the LBBL or LWBL. Many of the coaches have good links to the Leicester Riders professional team and development program. Groby Basketball Club are part of the development programme, playing in division 1 in the LBBL.
